Honoring the spirit of Phil Torres by demonstrating outstanding dedication, enthusiasm and love of the game

The Phil Torres Award recognizes one of our outstanding youth umpires each year at Opening Day.  The award is in memory of Phil Torres who was a both a WMLL and District 3 umpire.  Phil was known for taking a keen interest in the kids playing, and he was passionate about his umpiring responsibilities.

The 2022 winner of the Phil Torres Award is Alex Jigalin.

Alex played West Marin Little League from Farm through Juniors and was a stand-out on the Archie Williams baseball team.  Alex has been a youth umpire in our League since age 11, and he certainly honors the spirit of Phil Torres by demonstrating outstanding dedication, enthusiasm and love of the game.  Phil would be tremendously proud of the example Alex has set both on and off the baseball diamond, and we are very thankful for Alex's contributions to our youth umpire program.
